I've heard that once perfume bottles are opened, the perfume particles would mix with the air particles and the smell could change. same theory as how the smell of a perfume could change after interacting with sweat and the air. it is generally recommended to discard the perfume 36 months after opening.How long can you keep unopen perfume or eu de toilette in a box?
It's heat and light that degrade the fragrance in perfumes, not the bottle being open. I've had some of my perfumes for years, out on the bathroom counter, and I've never noticed they've been degraded. If you're worried though, keep them in their box or in the cabinet. However, some perfume bottles are so pretty you're kinda missing out when you do that!
